London Civic is Going Green with EStatements

It will be a Green March for London Civic! At the end of March, London Civic will be introducing a new Green service, EStatements. All members will be able to receive their monthly statements electronically. No more paper, no more shipping and no more storing those monthly statements. Now that’s going Green.

But we need your help! Only members with Online Banking access can view their monthly statements electronically through our website at www.lcecu.com. Want to help? Then just sign up for Online Banking and we will start to send you an Estatement.

What is an EStatement?
A copy of your monthly bank statement is stored electronically instead of printing it on paper. To view, just log on to our Online Banking service at www.lcecu.com, then click on the Electronic Statement option to see your monthly statement. And not only that, you will also be able to view an imaged copy of your cleared cheques.

Why Estatements?
They are faster, greener and easier to store. You can view your statement and images of your cleared cheques within 7 business days of month-end. Much faster! No need to use paper and ship statements to all our members. Now that’s greener! No need to store all that paper, since your electronic copy will be stored for seven years. That’s easier to store!

Can I still receive a paper copy of my account statement?
Yes, but only if you want to! Most members with Online Banking do not want a paper copy of their monthly bank statement. So starting March 31, members with Online Banking access will no longer be mailed a paper copy of your monthly account statements. However, if you still would like a paper copy of your statement, just let us know, and we will arrange for monthly statements to be mailed. All members not using Online Banking will continue receiving their monthly statements in the mail.

Will my cancelled cheques be returned?
No. The Canadian Payments Association is implementing a cheque imaging system in 2007 for all Canadian financial institutions. Your cheques will be imaged when presented to the clearing institution and then destroyed. As they will no longer be returned to London Civic, we will not be able to forward them to you.

If I cannot get my cheques back, can I get a copy of my cancelled cheques?
Yes. You will have three options to obtain a copy of your cancelled cheques.
Sign on to your chequing account in Online Banking. Request account activity details and click on CHEQUE to view each of your cheques. Images of your cheques, front and back, will be available within the account activity listing for 90 days and you may print them if needed.

Images will also be available with your month-end EStatement. Sign on to Online Banking and click on the new Electronic Statement option to view your cheques. (Not available until March 2007)

Request a paper copy of your imaged cheques to be included with your mailed statement for a monthly fee of $2.00.

When will these changes begin?
As of March 31, 2007

Statements with cheque images will be available to view under Electronic Statements within Online Banking.

Cleared paper cheques will no longer be returned after March 31, 2007.

Members using Online Banking will not receive a mailed paper statement. However, members using Online Banking may request to receive monthly mailed statements, at no cost, but printed copies of imaged cheques will not be included – unless requested.

Members without Online Banking will continue to receive their monthly statements in the mail. Paper imaged copies of cheques will not be included with monthly statements - unless requested.

Members who request that a paper image of their cleared cheques be included with their statements will be charged a monthly fee of $2.

For every hundred members with Online Banking as of September 30 2007, London Civic will plant a tree in the Forest City. As of December 31, 2006 we had over 600 members with Online Banking. That’s 6 trees we can plant!
